QUANDRY

We convened
fun, fellowship the intent
merriment and enjoyment utmost in our hearts
but neglected was the intent of our crowd

Names called out in ecstatic revelry
hugs passed freely like drinking cups
on omerife night
handshakes exchanged careless of angst or vice
kin reunited after moons of seperation

With food scant and hard water meager
talk was aplenty with listening ears scarce
But oh what joy I had
I saw you smile too
Heard your joyous mirth

Eventide ushered in a cool breeze
but your joy the frost would not quell
anxiously your stomach growled
but your merriment was not to be staunched
maka'n'ife nnwanne a soka

A disappointment one called this gathering
A disaster another exclaimed in dismay
but with a smile yet another remembers
That friend seen after such a long absence
A drink shared with a brother

So go ahead
Talk of the failures and disappointments
of that weekend
But remember to revel
In the beauty and camaraderie of those evens.
